DomainsWatch is a South African product solving a South African problem: hundreds of great .co.za domains drop every day, and until now nobody was watching.

Why we built this

Every day, hundreds of .co.za domains expire and get released back to the public - business names, brand names, short memorable domains. Internationally, whole industries exist to monitor and catch dropping domains. In South Africa, there was nothing built for the .co.za lifecycle.

DomainsWatch started as a tool we built for ourselves: a monitor that tracked the ZACR registry lifecycle - expiry, suspension, deletion, redemption, release - and sent an email the moment a domain we wanted became available. It worked, so we turned it into a product anyone can use.

Today DomainsWatch monitors 4,896 domains across 170+ TLDs, with WHOIS checks running as often as every 15 minutes for domains about to drop.

How we operate

  • Transparent pricing

    R99 per watched domain, packages for portfolios, all prices in rand. When our catching service launches, registration costs are passed through at wholesale - no markup.

  • POPIA-compliant by design

    Personal information is encrypted at rest, you can export or delete your data from your account settings at any time, and we never publish registrant details on public pages.

  • Local, and accountable

    DomainsWatch is operated by Moducraft (Pty) Ltd, a registered South African company (Reg: 2026/138609/07). Payments are processed in rand by PayFast. Support is answered by the people who built the product.

Who's behind it

DomainsWatch was founded and built by Johan Pretorius, a South African software developer, under Moducraft (Pty) Ltd - a product studio building focused tools for the South African market. It launched in May 2026 and is actively developed; you can see what's new in our release notes and what's coming (like automated catching) on our pricing page.
